Year 1 - Art and design
Mark-making: using drawing tools and techniques
In this unit puils will investigate, explore and use a range of materials and techniques to create drawings. They will make art expressively and spontaneously, exploring texture and pattern with a range of media before before creating drawing machines.
You will learn to create your own drawing machine using a variety of objects.
Artists can create marks holding a drawing tool, but they can also use objects and movement to create marks instead. A drawing machine works by moving in different ways to make lines, shapes and marks with moving objects.
movement is when you make something go from one place to another.
Mistake: Artists have to hold a drawing tool with their hands to make marks. Correction: Remind children that artists can make marks by holding a drawing tool but they can also make marks without directly touching the drawing tool.
