Year 1 - Art and design
Moon and space: drawing and mixed media
Pupils will develop their ability to apply light and dark tones to shade the surface of the moon. They will create a space background and use collage papers of their own making to create a planet composition.
You will learn to create and evaluate a composition inspired by space.
When artists talk about the background of an artwork, they mean everything that is behind the main image or images. Evaluating artwork is an important part of the design process.
everything that is behind the main image, or images, in an artwork.
Mistake: Backgrounds in artworks are not as important as the images within an artwork. Correction: Remind children that backgrounds to artworks can make an image more interesting, or tell us more about the images within an artwork. They can also make an artwork look more three-dimensional.
