Year 1 - Art and design
My world: art and nature
Designed in collaboration with October Gallery, this unit reflects how art operates in the world, as expression, storytelling, identity and connection. While remaining accessible for all classrooms pupils explore mark-making, movement, clay, print, and dye to build fine and gross motor skills.
You will learn to make a clay picture from patterns and colours from the earth.
Patterns can be made through colour and shape. Clay and colour come from the Earth and should be shared and respected.
a soft, sticky material from the ground that can be shaped into different forms.
Mistake: We can use as much clay from the Earth as we want! Correction: Remind pupils that we share natural resources and use them carefully, so there is enough for everyone.
