Year 1 - Art and design
Reflections on water: introducing painting
Through investigations and studies of a diverse range of artworks based on water, pupils will make their own observations and records of the subject. They will make collaborative temporary collages based upon the theme of water.
You will learn to create textured papers to make a collage.
Know that texture is a word to describe how something feels. Know that artists might depict water as having many textures.
the way something feels when you touch it.
Mistake: Artists will always depict the texture of water in the same way. Correction: Remind children that although water itself always feels wet and smooth, artists might use their materials to show the water being bubbly, smooth or rough. Artists can describe this as the texture of the water.
