School trip: writing a recount
In this unit, pupils will write a recount from a personal experience. This is an opportunity to apply all grammatical and sentence building covered over the year to a real life context. This unit is designed for the Summer term of Y1 and should be used around the time of a school trip.
You will learn to write a recount.
Writing about what happened on a trip can come at the middle and end of a recount. Using time adverbials helps the reader to understand the sequence of events.
the section of something in between the beginning and end.
Mistake: Pupils may tick their success criteria without checking and correcting. Correction: When you are modelling your write, continuously refer back to the success criteria yourself. Adapt the success criteria accordingly to help pupils experience success.
