This unit uses globes, maps and satellite images to explore the world's continents, oceans, rivers and mountains. Pupils locate key features and landmarks and begin to understand the UK's position in the wider world.
You will learn to use atlases and maps to locate the UK in the world.
Continents are divided into smaller areas known as countries. The UK is a country located in Europe with the Atlantic Ocean to its west.
The United Kingdom (UK) includes the countries of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
Mistake: Ireland is part of the UK. Correction: Northern Ireland is part of the UK.
