Year 1 - Geography
Local area: where do we go to school?
Explore the school environment to identify features, describe locations using simple vocabulary, interpret aerial photos and observe seasonal change through early fieldwork.
You will learn to make a list of the people who work in your school and interview some of them to find out more about their job.
There are lots of different jobs in a primary school and some are easily noticed but others are not obvious. Interviews are a good way of finding out information from people.
A job is regular work which is usually paid.
Mistake: Everyone who works in a school gets paid. Correction: There are many volunteers who work in schools to help them run smoothly. These people don't get paid, they give up their time for free.
