Year 1 - Music
Music and movement: feeling the pulse and changing the tempo
This unit develops pupil's sense of pulse across a range of different tempi. Pupils internalise phrasing through music and movement games and understand when it is their turn to sing, move or play. They are challenged to notice and respond appropriately to tempo changes.
You will learn to hear tempo changes in a piece of music and can respond by moving in time to the beat.
Tempo can change within a piece of music. Movement can help us to feel, show and hear the changing tempo.
how fast or slow the music is played.
Mistake: The tempo always stays the same throughout a piece of music. Correction: Although we learn to feel the pulse and follow the steady beat, music can get gradually faster or gradually slower.
