Year 10 - Computing
Using data science and AI tools effectively and safely
In this unit, pupils will explore how data science and AI tools are having an impact on our daily lives. They will develop an understanding of how to use these tools effectively as well as an awareness of the issues relating to trust, bias and misinformation.
You will learn to describe the main risks of artificial intelligence and explain how risks can be reduced.
AI systems can pose risks such as bias, job displacement, misuse and lack of transparency. AI risk mitigation involves strategies like ethical design, regulation, testing and human oversight.
being open and clear about how a system works. Add one real device or system example to prove understanding.
Mistake: Once AI is built, it can't be changed and the risks are already set. Correction: AI systems can and should be continuously monitored, tested and improved to reduce risks. Risk mitigation is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix.
