Year 10 - English
'Love and Relationships'
In this unit, pupis explore 12 of the 15 poems from the 'Love and Relationships' anthology. Pupils complete two lessons about each poem: one on understanding and one on analysis. Pupils study the poems in four groups, and they pause after each group to compare how those poems present common themes.
You will learn to plan a comparative analysis of 'Before You Were yours' and one other poem.
Context is a useful lens through which to consider the writer's intentions and evaluate our interpretations of the text. Contextual links should be relevant to analysis and not used as 'bolt-on' sentences.
a vivid, often detailed, description of or response to a visual work of art.
Mistake: Every analysis paragraph should link to the wider context. Correction: Effective analysis links to context only when relevant to the discussion of key ideas/methods and avoids 'bolt-on' sentences.
