Year 10 - Geography
Liverpool: changes in a UK city
This unit teaches pupils about the geography of Liverpool, one of the UK's most important cities. Pupils learn about Liverpool's location and importance at different scales and about its characteristics. Pupils will learn about the factors leading to economic, social and environmental change.
You will learn to identify ways in which Liverpool and Aughton are interdependent and categorise costs and benefits for both places (social, economic or environmental).
Cities are interdependent with accessible rural areas. An example of this is Liverpool and the village of Aughton. Interdependence involves flows of goods, services and labour between urban and accessible rural areas.
a place, often a town or village, where people live and then travel to other places, normally a city, for work.
Mistake: Urban areas have more facilities and services than rural areas. As a result, rural areas can offer cities little in return. Correction: Rural areas can offer the residents of urban areas a source of labour and produce. They can provide jobs in industries such as agriculture and opportunities for recreation and leisure.
