Unit Summary

This consolidation unit revisits all of the grammar covered in previous units in the context of travel destinations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Pupils learn to use 'man' in order to avoid the passive, and also learn 'sein' and 'ihr' in nominative, accusative and dative to mean 'its'.

  • Use word order three with the conjunctions 'weil', 'obwohl', 'dass', 'wenn', 'ob', 'da'.
  • Use word order two if starting a sentence with something other than the subject, e.g., an adverb.
  • Possessive adjectives are used before a noun to show ownership or belonging. They agree with the noun they describe.
  • The genitive case form of possessive adjectives means 'of...', e.g., 'meines Vaters' means 'of my father'.
