Year 10 - Music
Fusions and Bhangra
No unit description is available for this selection yet.
You will learn to create a simple bhangra composition and can explain some of the ways that bhangra uses music technology.
Bhangra uses music technology extensively, in common with other modern dance music. Sampling and looping are common in bhangra, as well as the use of effects including echo, delay and filters.
Sampling is the use of clips of pre-existing sound or music.
Mistake: Bhangra is a traditional style of music that doesn't use music technology extensively. Correction: Modern bhangra uses many of the tools that are available to musicians now, including different applications of music technology. It uses these to enhance the music, while still having its roots embedded in the traditional features of Punjabi bhangra.
