Year 11 - Computing
Spreadsheets
In this unit pupils will explore how to use spreadsheets to store and manipulate data. They will use common functions and extract data to create visual representations using charts. Pupils will use spreadsheets to track and calculate income, make predictions, and answer "what if…?" questions.
You will learn to apply data validation techniques to improve data accuracy.
Data validation is a tool in spreadsheets that controls what kind of data can be entered into a cell. It is used to help prevent mistakes, such as typing the wrong word or entering numbers outside a set range.
a tool that controls what kind of data can be entered into a cell. Add one real device or system example to prove understanding.
Mistake: Data validation can only check values entered into a cell. It cannot be used to stop a user from leaving a cell blank. Correction: Data validation can be used to prevent users from leaving required cells blank.
