Year 11 - Computing
The internet and web technologies
In this unit pupils will explore how data travels across the internet. They will explore how protocols define communication between devices and the purpose of common network protocols. They will investigate the risks to networks and the methods that can be used to protect a network.
You will learn to describe the hardware required to use the cloud for hosting services.
Servers are used to host services across the internet; clients access and use those services. The cloud provides services for software and storage.
storing a website or an online service on a server, so it can be accessed over the internet. Add one real device or system example to prove understanding.
Mistake: You don't need any hardware for the cloud — everything just happens online. Correction: The cloud still relies on physical hardware, like servers, storage devices and networking equipment.
