Year 11 - Geography
Energy
This unit teaches pupils about different energy resources, their extraction and uses. Pupils learn about the different types of energy, the factors affecting extraction and the patterns and inequalites associated with production and consumption. Pupils also learn about energy futures.
You will learn to explain how energy efficiency and energy conservation in transport and in the home can reduce demand for finite energy resources and reduce carbon emissions.
Reducing reliance on fossil fuels presents major technical challenges. Energy efficiency and conservation can reduce demand and help finite energy supplies to last longer.
the amount of energy that is needed to power daily activities.
Mistake: Energy efficiency and energy conservation mean the same thing. Correction: In fact, energy efficiency is about using technology to do the same task but with less use of energy, while energy conservation is about changing people's behaviour so they use less energy.
