Year 2 - English
Handwriting review, with no lead-ins
In this unit, pupils review handwriting skills, focusing on formation, size, and orientation. They practise forming proper nouns, high frequency words, common exception words and full sentences. Pupils also focus on using even spacing between letters and using lead outs accurately.
You will learn to write high frequency words using cursive handwriting.
High frequency words are words that appear most frequently in written texts. Letters in the high frequency words will be joined using a range of joins depending on the letters in the word.
the words that appear most frequently in written texts.
Mistake: Children can struggle to gauge the size of the gap between the letters joined. Correction: Giving grey examples for the children to trace over can support children to become familiar with the distance between the letters.
