Year 2 - Geography
What is it like to live in Jamaica?
This unit explores what it is like to live in a contrasting locality by studying Jamaica and Tanzania. Pupils investigate location, climate, and key physical and human features, and compare each place with their own through maps, images and geographical vocabulary.
You will learn to locate the Caribbean on a map and describe some ways in which the UK and the Caribbean are connected.
Maps can be used to locate the Caribbean Sea and the countries there. Compass directions (north, east, south and west) can be used to describe the location of Caribbean countries.
A continent is a large land mass on Earth and there are seven: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Oceania.
Mistake: The Caribbean is in South America. Correction: The Caribbean is in North America.
