Year 2 - Music
Singing for performance: adding a simple vocal accompaniment
In this unit pupils add simple vocal accompaniments to songs. They learn chanted and sung ostinati, adding these to songs they have learnt. Pupils practise in order to improve and understand the importance of maintaining a steady pulse.
You will learn to perform songs with two or more layers, singing your part accurately and keeping a steady pulse.
Warming up prepares us for rehearsing and performing safely and helps us do our best. A rehearsal helps us prepare for a performance and can help us feel less nervous.
a sequence of exercises used to prepare the mind, body and voice for singing / playing instruments.
Mistake: If we know our songs well, we do not need to rehearse before a performance. Correction: A rehearsal can really help to settle the nerves, helping us know what will happen and how things will feel different during the performance.
