Year 3 - Cooking and nutrition
Cooking around the world
This unit develops pupils' food skills through the context of food from around the world. Pupils learn about the structure of a recipe, how to portion foods evenly and, with supervision, use heat in cooking.
You will learn to make veggie kebabs.
Kebabs originate from the Middle East, with vegetables and/or meat in a marinade (which helps soften/flavour the food). A recipe is a set of instructions for preparing and cooking a dish (name, ingredients, equipment and method).
vegetables, fish or meat cooked on a skewer.
Mistake: When cooking it is fine not to weigh and measure accurately, approximate measurements are fine. Correction: It is important to weigh and measure ingredients accuarely, so that the recipe works well.
