Year 3 - French
What I and others do: singular regular -er verbs
In this unit pupils use -er infinitive and singular forms to talk about activities in school and at home. New sounds are complemetary er/é/ez, and contrastive eu, è/ê. New vocabulary is selected for its frequency and contexts, and pupils anchor previously taught vocabulary in new contexts.
You will learn to use singular -er present tense verbs to understand and talk about activities.
The sound-symbol correspondence [-ez] and 'et', meaning and, sound the same as [é] and [-er]. Verbs in the present tense change ending to match the pronoun: je-e, tu-es, elle, il-e.
pronounced the same as [é] and [-er]. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: All verb forms have the same ending. Correction: A useful way to embed the pronoun-verb form-meaning connection is in reading activities that omit the pronouns; pupils are compelled to focus on the verb ending to complete the task.
