Year 3 - Geography
Local area: how is it changing?
This unit develops pupils' fieldwork skills through an investigation of change in the local area. Pupils observe, measure, map and record evidence of change, gather local views, and begin to consider how places evolve over time.
You will learn to create enquiry questions about how your local place has changed.
Places change over time and we can investigate this change in a variety of ways. People have different opinions about a place and whether it is changing for the better or worse.
A fact is a statement about something that can be proven to be true.
Mistake: Children may assume that all change involves places becoming urbanised or developed. Correction: Show children examples of areas that have been re-greened.
