Year 3 - Science
Healthy eating
This unit covers how animals, including humans, obtain nutrition from their diet, emphasising the need for the right types and amounts of food. It involves asking questions, gathering and presenting data, using scientific language, and interpreting evidence to answer questions and support findings.
You will learn to identify that humans get nutrients from different types of food.
Fruits and vegetables provide vitamins and fibre for good health. Carbohydrates give us the energy we need to be active.
A nutrient is any substance that plants or animals need in order to live and grow. Include the word in a full scientific explanation, not as a single label.
Mistake: Foods are either 'good' or 'bad' for you. Correction: Explanation of different nutrients in foods and how they can be beneficial to our health.
