Year 4 - French
What I and others like: opinion verbs
In this unit, pupils learn singular persons of new -er verbs 'aimer' to like and 'préférer' to prefer to express likes and preferences. They use reference resources to personalise their responses, researching new nouns. Pupils also develop phonics, learning a new spelling [ai] for the [ê/è] sound.
You will learn to use the verb 'aimer' and other -er verbs in sentences.
The sound-symbol correspondences (SSCs) [è] and [ai] make the same sound. Possessive adjectives have masculine forms 'mon', 'ton' and feminine forms 'ma' and 'ta'.
pronounced as in 'vrai'. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: The sound-symbol correspondences [ai] and [è] make different sounds. Correction: The sound-symbol correspondences [ai] and [è] in fact make the same sound as in 'paire' and 'père'.
