Year 4 - Geography
Europe: what is it like to live in northern Italy?
This unit explores northern Italy through its landscapes, transport, cities and villages. Pupils learn about everyday life and tourism in the region, and compare it with their own local area using maps, images and geographical vocabulary.
You will learn to use different sources of information to investigate and compare different villages in northern Italy.
A range of resources, including photographs and climate data can be used to investigate what a locality is like. Different factors such as climate, location and the physical landscape can affect what life in a village is like.
Climate is an average of weather conditions (e.g. rain, sun, wind) in a place taken over a long period of time (usually 30 years or more).
Mistake: All villages in northern Italy are the same. Correction: Villages in northern Italy have different climates, architecture and culture.
