Year 5 - Design and technology
Pulleys and gears: electric vehicles
This unit develops pupils' knowledge of mechanisms through gears and pulleys. By investigating electric vehicles and mechanical and electrical components, pupils will apply their knowledge and understanding by making an electric vehicle.
You will learn to adapt a design to make it more effective.
The body of a vehicle is the outer shell which sits on the chassis. Aerodynamics reduce drag and fuel consumption.
the way air moves around an object.
Mistake: The shape of a vehicle has no effect on its speed. Correction: Vehicle shape is considered in order to reduce air resistance (less drag).
