Year 6 - Art and design
New Pop Art: sculpture and mixed-media
In this conceptual art unit, pupils will make art in a medium of their choice on a topical contemporary theme. They will investigate how and why Pop artists from the 1960s to the present day created art.
You will learn to develop a Pop Art-inspired artwork using ideas from your research and sketchbook.
Pop Art often includes repetition, bold colours, and images from popular culture. Developing artworks involves sketching, considering composition, and refining ideas visually.
the process of improving and evolving ideas or artworks.
Mistake: Once an idea has been drawn, it is finished. Correction: Artists often revisit and refine their ideas. A first sketch is just the starting point - you can improve your work by trying different layouts, materials, and colour choices.
