In this unit, pupils learn a wider range of vocabulary to support writing descriptively about characters, settings and scenes, including ambitious vocabulary for emotions words that can be applied to descriptive writing passages.

'Livid' is an adjective which means extremely angry or furious. 'Spiteful' is an adjective which means hateful or mean.

Mistake: As 'furious', 'livid' and 'raging' have similar meanings and word pairs, pupils answers may vary in Task C. Correction: Explain to pupils that there is more than one option that can work in the three sentences that contain these words.
