Year 6 - English
Review, including word class, sentence types, tense, commas and colons
In this unit, comprehensive review of all grammar and syntactical terminology needed for KS2 SATS tests is undertaken. Pupils review word class, the five taught sentence structures, all taught tenses, word families, Standard English and all taught punctuation, including at the higher level for GDS.
You will learn to practise subject, object, active voice and passive voice test questions.
A grammatically accurate sentence has a subject and a verb. It can contain an object. A sentence can be written or spoken in the active voice.
the noun, noun phrase or pronoun that does or is the main verb in the active voice.
Mistake: Pupils may believe that a passive sentence always contains the old subject of the active sentence. Correction: Sometimes the old subject is removed completely like in this example: 'We passed the ball.' > 'The ball was passed.'.
