Year 6 - English
Talking transitions
In this unit, pupils practise speaking and listening skills to turn take, agree and disagree respectfully and share opinions about the transition of leaving primary school to go to secondary school. Pupils develop their ability to listen without judgement to their peers' opinions and feelings.
You will learn to organise a presentation and engage with an audience when presenting.
Effective presentations are planned in advance. Part of planning a presentation is organising what you are going to say and in what order.
a group of people watching and listening to a presentation or performance.
Mistake: Pupils may think that they are either a 'good communicator' or a 'bad communicator'. Correction: Ensure that pupils have a growth mindset when it comes to developing presentation and communication skills. All the presentation skills showcased in this lesson can be practised, including those that pupils feel confident in!
