Citizenship - what's it all about?
In this unit pupils consider what citizenship is all about, they will explore what knowledge and skills they need to develop to become active citizens.
You will learn to explain what the subject of citizenship includes, what social change is and how statistics can help enact social change.
Citizenship covers concepts such as the law, democracy, the economy, identities, communities and rights. There are many ways to make social change happen like volunteering, pressure groups and lobbying.
a person who belongs to a country and has certain rights as they either live in the country, or were born in the country; it is a legal status given to people.
Mistake: Citizenship is only about legal status. Correction: Citizenship is all about being part of a society and being an active citizen.
