Unit Summary

In this unit, pupils learn and practise the position of certain common adjectives before the noun. They practise irregular feminine forms of some high frequency adjectives. Pupils also revisit ç and soft c and a range of other SSCs as they revisit high frequency vocabulary in describing places.

  • Revisiting key phonics, vocabulary and grammar helps to embed knowledge.
  • [a], [oi], [i], [ou], [u], [(e)au], [eu] and [é] are common French sounds.
  • 'Je', 'tu' 'il', 'elle', 'nous', 'vous', 'ils' and 'elles' are French pronouns. Verbs change to match the pronoun.
  • Yes/no and information questions can be formed with inversion: swap the subject and the verb '(quand) sors-tu ce soir ?'
  • To make a sentence negative, use 'ne ... pas' around the verb.
