Unit Summary

In this unit, pupils add the plural forms of 'aller' to their verb lexicon. They apply this when using à, 'en' and 'chez' for to' in different contexts. Pupils reactivate '-er verbs and mostly known vocabulary in extended reading and writing tasks about famous French people. [en,an] is revisited.

You will learn to use the plural forms of 'aller' with the prespositions 'à', 'en' and 'chez' to say and understand where we and others go.

  • To say 'to' a town or city, we use the preposition 'à' on its own, for example 'Je vais à Londres'.
  • To say 'to' a feminine country we use 'en', for example 'Tu vas en Angleterre.'
  • To say going 'to' someone's house or place, it's 'chez', for example 'Il va chez le dentiste' - He goes to the dentist.
  • To say 'you (plural) go' or 'you are going', we use 'vous allez'. This is called the 2nd person plural of the verb.
  • To say 'they go' or 'they are going', we use 'ils, elles vont'. This is called the 3rd person plural of the verb.
