Orchestral melodies
This unit develops knowledge and understanding of the instruments of the orchestra. Pupils also learn to play a famous orchestral melody on the keyboard, learning to play and move out of position and they learn to identify from C to octave C on the stave through performance.
You will learn to prepare a performance of Going Home displaying elements of musical expression.
When performing Going Home with fluency, the pitches and rhythms are played correctly and in time with a pulse. We can add musical expression by changing dynamics, playing legato, or stressing the first beat of the bar.
the steady underlying beat.
Mistake: Both hands change position at the same time. Correction: Highlight to pupils that the left hand remains in the C position even though the right hand moves to the F position and back again.
