Heating and cooling
This unit explains energy transfer between objects due to temperature differences, through conduction or radiation, the role of insulators, and thermal equilibrium. It covers particle arrangements and motions in solids, liquids, and gases and Brownian motion.
You will learn to describe the difference between the temperature and the energy of an object or substance.
The directions in which particles in a substance move are random. This is true of solids, liquids and gases. The higher the temperature, the faster the particles vibrate in a solid or move past each other in a liquid or gas.
