Year 8 - Physical education
Net and wall games: technical proficiency and problem solving through badminton
This unit will apply hand-eye coordination and racket skills to badminton with a focus on problem solving to win points and increasing proficiency with serves, clears and smashes. Pupils will also develop their ability to analyse performances to identify strengths and weaknesses.
You will learn to move quickly and with precision to cover the court well.
Move: lunging around the court and back to the middle makes it easier to win points. Think: returning the ball/shuttle quickly and into space reduces your opponent's time to recover from the last shot.
being calculated and accurate.
Mistake: Pupils use short steps and run through as they hit the shuttle which leaves them out of position for the next shot. Correction: Using long lunges and recovering back to the middle of the court quickly between each shot reduces the space and options available to your opposition.
