Unit Summary

In this unit, pupils learn possessive adjectives 'su', 'sus', 'nuestra', 'nuestro'. They learn comparatives 'más/menos … que' and irregular comparatives 'mejor que' and peor que'. Demonstratives 'este', 'esta', 'estos', 'estas' are introduced.

  • There is an accent on the final vowel of numbers 22, 23 and 26 because they have final-syllable stress and end in 's'.
  • Many jobs end in -o when they refer to a man and -a when they refer to a woman, e.g. 'músico' and 'música' (musician).
  • The indefinite article ('un', 'una') is not used when stating what job someone does, e.g. 'mi padre es médico'.
  • To say the possessive adjective 'our' in Spanish, use 'nuestro'. 'Nuestro' needs to agree in gender with the noun.
  • For singular masculine nouns use 'nuestro', for singular feminine nouns use 'nuestra'.
