Lesson Summary

You will learn to use the verb 'être' and plural adjectives to talk about music and music festivals.

Key Notes

  • The letters 'd', 's', 't' and 'x' are usually silent at the end of words in French.
  • The plural forms of être are 'nous sommes', (we are) 'vous êtes' (you are) and 'ils/elles' sont (they are).
  • The most common adjective agreement pattern for plural adjectives is the addition of -s.
  • Adjectives already ending -s/-x don't change + masculine plural adjectives ending -al change to aux in the plural form.

Vocabulary To Learn

  • silent final consonant (SFC): silent letter (d, s, t, x) at the end of a word
  • être: to be, being
  • adjective agreement: when the ending of an adjective matches the noun it describes in gender and number

Common Mistakes To Avoid

  • Add -s to make all adjectives plural.
