Year 9 - French
Routines: numbers 32-69, time
In this unit, pupils consolidate and extend their knowledge of numbers from 32-69 and use the impersonal verb 'il est' to tell the time. Avoir and être are revisited to talk about feelings and states. Knowledge of question forms and present and perfect tenses is deepened in writing and speaking.
You will learn to use 'avoir' and 'être' to describe your daily routine.
[en/an] is pronounced as in 'enfant'. [ain/in] is pronounced as in 'train'.
pronounced as in 'enfant'. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: 'Avoir' always means 'to have/having'. Correction: Most of the time, we translate 'avoir' as 'to have/having' but there are expressions, where we would use the verb to be in English, where French uses 'avoir', usually expressing feelings/states e.g 'avoir froid', to be cold.
