Invasion games: adapt tactics and strategies in contact sports
This unit explores ways to adapt tactics and strategies in full-contact sports like rugby. Pupils will learn how to respond to specific types of breakdown such as free kicks, rucks, mauls and scrums as they seek solutions to gain territory, maintain momentum and counterattack.
You will learn to use pace and creativity to counterattack and stop the opposition scoring points.
Move: staying linked by holding hands or using a bib helps defenders close gaps and work together to stop the raider. Move: quickly instigating a strong grip around the raider's waist can prevent them evading the defenders.

Mistake: Pupils think that tackling a raider individually is the only option. Correction: In Kabaddi, Raiders have 30 seconds to make the raid and get back across the half way line. As a result, if the defense hold up the raider until their time runs out, it is an unsuccessful raid and the raider doesn't score.
