Year 9 - Physical education
Invasion games: adapt tactics and strategies through handball
This unit explores ways to adapt skills, tactics and strategies and apply them with adherence to the rules of handball. Pupils will develop their resilience as they utilise the full rules and officiate their own games.
You will learn to outwit the opposition through movement on and off the ball.
Move: the arm is recoiled in the direction the ball is travelling for one handed catches. Move: stepping forward with your opposite foot helps to direct your overhead pass with accuracy.
an attacking play that involved passing the ball (give) and running (go) to an open spot to receive the ball back.
Mistake: Pupils think the only movement that is important is the movement with the ball. Correction: Movement off the ball is just as important, it helps create space and supports the player in possession.
