Matriarchs: are the women of the Bible victors or victims?
In this unit pupils will take a hermenutical reading of scripture to assess the status of women in the Bible. Through a series of key stories they will analyse how women are portrayed and how these stories have been interpreted and re-interpreted over the centuries.
You will learn to retell the Genesis story of Eve and The Fall, and explain different Christian perspectives on this.
The Genesis account of Eve and The Fall can be read in different ways, depending on the view of its genre. Original Sin is a belief that humans are born inclined to sin as a consequence of The Fall.

Mistake: That all Christians believe in original sin. Correction: Different Christian groups and individuals may believe in original sin or not and even those that do believe in it may have differing interpretations of what it actually means.
