Textile Design
This is a teacher led unit which introduces to pupils to the skills within their endorsements. Through a series of workshop activities, students experiment with a range of materials and techniques. They develop a range of studies exploring mark making media, print and mixed media.
You will learn to explore unusual materials and create a simple woven tapestry.
Weaving can be expressive and exciting when interesting materials are used to weave with. Tapestry weaving techniques are not difficult and using a fringe effect is a easy technique to create texture.

Mistake: Plastic bags cannot be used in weaving because they are too soft. Correction: Nearly all materials can be used to weave with as long as they are cut correctly so that they can fit into the loom.
