Year 10 - Design and technology
Communal areas context
Pupils will use disassembly to investigate an existing piece of flat-pack furniture, including material sources. They will use this information to inform designs. Pupils will focus on user-centred design to create and develop ideas and then plan the manufacturer for a product.
You will learn to define a design brief from your opportunities.
A design brief must develop from identified design opportunities. A primary user is identified.
a gap or a need where a new or improved product would be beneficial.
Mistake: Pupils tend to define a product that they wish to design and make at this point. They become fixated on a design. Correction: Pupils need to keep their design brief open so that it does not create design fixation.
