Year 10 - French
My personal world: Mes amis
This unit introduces verbs that follow the pattern of connaître in the present and perfect tense and extends pupils' use of impersonal verbs. It also develops mastery of the imperfect tense of regular verbs, set in the context of past and present friendships and activities.
You will learn to use a range of verbs like connaitre in the present and perfect tense to discuss friendships.
The past participles of most verbs like connaitre are formed with a 'u' ending e.g. connu, disparu, paru. The past participle of 'naitre' is 'né(e)(s)'.
a verb tense that describes completed actions in the past. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: All verbs ending 'aitre' form the perfect tense in the same way. Correction: Whilst this group of verbs behaves very similarly, the verb 'naitre' is irregular in the perfect tense. Students should be aware that it uses 'être' to form the perfect tense and its past participle is 'né'.
