Introduction to performance
Pupils are introduced to the GCSE performance component. They develop understanding of what makes an effective performance, including accuracy, fluency and expression, and begin to apply effective practice strategies to improve their performance skills.
You will learn to evaluate and select a performance piece that suits your ability and allows expressive playing.
Good performances are accurate, fluent and expressive. A well prepared easier piece is stronger than a more difficult piece that isn't secure.

Mistake: Playing harder pieces will always get better marks. Correction: An easier piece performed accurately and expressively is usually more successful than a difficult piece played insecurely.
