Invasion games: tactics and strategies in hockey
This unit explores a variety of tactics and strategies that can be transferred from other team games to hockey. Pupils' persistence will be tested as they learn to apply the rules and find ways to tackle safely, strike the ball cleanly and avoid kicking the ball.
You will learn to take part in both short and long corners to help your team attack the goal.
Move: having the front foot wide and pointing to the target as the injector improves the speed and accuracy of the pass. Move: an auto pass can allow for a quicker restart to catch the opposition off guard.

Mistake: Long corners are actually taken from the corner of the pitch. Correction: Long corners are taken on the 23m line, in line with where the ball went out. They used to be taken from the corners, but the rule changed in 2015.
