Year 10 - Physical education
Physical training: methods of training
This unit will describe and enable pupils to experience different types of training before analysing which ones are most suited to different types of sporting performers.
You will learn to identify the three training seasons and the aims and benefits of each season.
Pre-season focuses on general aerobic and specific fitness needs to build a base before specialising for the sport. During competition (peak playing season), athletes focus on maintaining fitness levels and working on specific skills.
period of time which competition takes place.
Mistake: Training seasons align with seasons of the year. Correction: They are very different. Training seasons will align with the type of sport and their competition period. For example, the football season is currently a different time period to the netball super league and hence their seasons will be set by this.
