Year 11 - Design and technology
Core principles
In this unit pupils will develop core principles knowledge with an explicit focus on exam technique.
You will learn to explain the impact of energy generation on the manufacture of products.
Fossil fuels are a non renewable source of energy. Renewable sources of energy harness naturally occurring phenomenon, such as wind.
coal, oil, and natural gas, formed from the remains of ancient plants and animals over millions of years.
Mistake: Renewable sources of energy do not have any negative impacts. Correction: Renewable sources of energy have high initial set up costs, are often weather dependent and require effective storage of energy.
