Year 11 - Physical education
Health and wellbeing: HIIT and couch to 5k team challenges to develop fitness
This unit will develop pupils' understanding of the principles of training through a running programme that stretches them as an individual but also their contribution to a team. Their cardiovascular endurance will improve whilst taking responsibility for their own training.
You will learn to use feedback to adapt your running programme to ensure progression.
Move: running with an increased distance, yet maintaining a natural and consistent stride with each foot landing. Think: adapting training to meet your needs to ensure progression allows flexibility and makes training more specific.
the ability to modify long-term planning to meet any new conditions that arise.
Mistake: Pupils think if they are struggling to achieve the guided training in the app, they have failed and have to stop. Correction: The app is flexible and can be adapted to individual needs and fitness levels. Even though it is set over 9 weeks you can complete it at your own pace and revisit weeks / runs if needed.
